Pipe Bursting for Sewer Replacement
If your existing sewer line is cracked, such as due to age or invading tree roots, we can often solve the problem with slip lining (see our sewer repair services page). However, if your sewer line is severely damaged or has shifted, it might not be possible to use slip lining for sewer repair. Instead, a different trenchless method of sewer replacement can be used: pipe bursting.
Pipe bursting is a fairly new technology which allows a new sewer line to be installed. Two access points must be dug in the yard. Through one access point, a “bursting head” is inserted. It breaks down the old sewer line and pushes it out of the way. Then, a new sewer line is put through the channel where the old pipe once was. It is even possible to install a larger sewer line using this method.
Pipe bursting for sewer replacement can generally be done in one day (or even just a few hours) and is much more affordable than traditional dig-and-replace methods of sewer replacement.
Please note that pipe bursting isn’t always an option for sewer replacement, such as if gas lines are located too close by for pipe bursting to be done safely. If this is the case, then digging might be required for sewer replacement.
We promise to take the time to explain all of your options for sewer replacement so you can make an informed decision about what is best for your needs.
